Book Fair Book Fair Book Fair
This year’s October Book Fair is almost here!
We need you!!!  The fair will be held in the school library
Monday, October 21, through Friday, October 25.
We need a lot of volunteers, so please join the effort! Go to our online sign-up to see the complete book fair schedule and find out how you can help:
www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0E4DA9AF22A57-october
Each class visits the fair during its scheduled library time, and children will be able to choose a book to purchase. We will also offer extended hours for parents to shop at the fair on Monday, Oct 21, from 1:30-3 pm and Tuesday, Oct 23, from 11am-12 pm. In addition, the fair will be open during our special event with Sage Stossel, local author-illustrator of On the Loose in Boston, on Wednesday, Oct 23 6-7:30 pm.
Contact the event’s organizers, Mary Kowalczuk at boskowalczuk@verizon.net or Margaret Muirhead at muirhead.reiss@rcn.com with any questions about the fair.

Save the Date: An Evening with Local Author-Illustrator Sage Stossel

Sage Stossel, local author and illustrator of On the Loose in Boston, On the Loose in Washington, D.C., and the upcoming graphic novel, Starling, will visit Hardy School during the October Book Fair on Wednesday, October 23, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Learn how a book is created, see Sage doodle, and then have her sign your very own copy of her book. If you’d like to learn more about Sage, check out this link: http://www.amazon.com/Sage-Stossel/e/B001K7YY3Q

The book fair will be open that evening for shopping—however, we ask that you do not leave children unattended at any time.

And the winner is…
Piper Guiney!  She guessed that our giant pumpkin weighed 185lbs at the Harvest Fest and she was exactly right!  Congratulations Piper!  Well Done!  The festival was a great success thanks to so many AMAZING volunteers!  Many familiar faces and even more new faces were a part of the event which brought families together on a beautiful autumn day.  My favorite comment of the day, “We came to get a pumpkin and ended up meeting some new friends and playing on the playground for 2 hours!”  That is what it’s all about!  We sure raised lots of fun (and money) Saturday afternoon!  Thanks everyone…I can’t wait until next year!

MONEY MONEY MONEY!

As of 10/7/2013, Hardy Annual Appeal has already raised over $7,580! Thank You! Keep it coming my friends!  We are working on adding some enrichment programs for winter and spring and hopefully putting a little love into our neglected playground.
YOU CAN HELP!!
A gift of any amount is welcome and appreciated. Donate on-line at www.hardyschool.com
